Gowrings of Reading Ltd are pleased to announce that they have bought the Ford dealership at 160 Basingstoke Road, Reading from Pendragon Plc. Managing Director Mr Derek Morgan states ‘we are extremely pleased to be able to bring the Gowrings name back to the city of Reading. This dealership will complement the two other very successful Gowrings Ford dealerships in Basingstoke & Newbury that we already operate. We are a family owned business and much of our success is due to our company culture in putting our customers first and always offering the lowest prices and the very best levels of service at all times, we are relishing the opportunity to put Ford in Reading back on the map.

Existing staff at the dealership will transfer to Gowrings of Reading.

Gowrings Ford left Reading in the 1980 when Zenith then Reg Vardy and later Evans Halshaw through Pendragon plc operated the site. Gowrings see Reading as a key part of the company’s expansion and will invest heavily to bring the dealership back up to standard. Gowrings is synonymous with quality and customer service having operated Ford dealerships in the Thames Valley area for almost 100 years. Gowrings is a well-respected brand that people equate with value for money and excellent customer service – the two dealerships in Basingstoke & Newbury won the prestigious Ford Motor Company’s Chairman’s Award in 2006. Gowrings are proud to be back in Reading.

The dealership will be run from 16^th March under the Gowrings of Reading brand.
